CENTRAL ALABAMA (WIAT) —
6:30 AM UPDATE: Severe T-storms in Etowah, Cherokee Counties – These storms are capable of producing some strong, damaging wind and could possibly produce a tornado. This is the only warning we have in Central Alabama at this time.
Strong and severe storms pushed through our western and central counties from around midnight until just before 5 AM. Some of the storms produced possible tornadoes, with the most notable areas of damage being in Tuscaloosa County near the Hagler community, and in Shelby County near Highland Lakes.
Up until 8 AM or so, a couple of severe storms are possible, but the main tornado threat seems to be subsiding. Any storms we get would be capable of producing some damagaing wind and hail. Storms should totally clear the area after 8 AM. We’ll see breezy, cloudy conditions for the rest of the day with dropping temperatures through the afternoon.
