Central AL Forecast: Wet weather returns to the forecast

Here comes the rain, with showers and thunderstorms likely for almost everyone today. There may be a few spots, especially in our southeastern counties who may miss out on the rain and storms, but everyone should be prepared for wet weather. Storms approach the AL/MS state line by noon time and move across the state. Severe weather isn’t likely, but one or two of the storms could have some strong, gusty wind. The storms will weaken as the push east and we’ll just have rain and a few rumbles of thunder for the late afternoon and evening. Most of the rain should be done before 10 PM.

More showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday and through the weekend. The culprit will be more upper-level impulses that travel along the base of a larger trough of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere. It’s important to note, it won’t be raining this whole time period, but periods of rain will be heavy and steady at times. Severe weather is not expected with this pattern. If it’s not raining, clouds will persist and afternoon temperatures will be in the upper 70s and near 80.

We finally start to see the pattern change by Monday as high pressure takes back over. Temperatures will be very comfortable to start the week, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s with good amounts of sunshine and some clouds through midweek.
