Central AL Forecast: Staying dry for the next several days

National Weather Service crews have been busy gathering information and surveying the damage from severe weather Thursday. They've identified 12 tornadoes and have written up a report for the surveyed tornadoes so far. Read more on that here

It's been a cloudy, pretty crisp Saturday. Cloud cover thickens the farther south and east you go with a clear sky for the northwest corner of the state. It's been chilly with temperatures mainly in the 50s. Another cool night is expected, with temperatures dipping into the mid 30s by tomorrow morning. A patchy frost is possible! So, if you got a head start on planting,  you'll want to protect your sensitive plants.

SUNDAY: With a chilly start to St. Patrick's Day, we will see a nice warm up throughout the afternoon. Low dewpoints will make it feel very pleasant outside, even though it will be on the cooler side and in the low 60s by the afternoon. No rain to worry about.  Any shower activity will be near the Gulf Coast. Skies will be mostly sunny and it'll be a beautiful day!

NEXT WEEK: High pressure will be the predominant feature across the southeast through early next week. This will help suppress any rain chances for the next several days! Models are hinting at a stray chance for a shower by the end of the week. For now, it looks like a stray shower will be in the forecast for Thursday.  Morning lows will be cool for the work week. Chilly mornings will lead to nice afternoons, with temperatures climbing into the low 60s. We will warm up slightly by mid to late week and be closer to the mid to upper 60s. Skies will be mainly clear through the week, as well, with only partly cloudy skies on Thursday.
