Central AL Forecast: Severe weather threat done, rain ending later today

The storms that moved into Central Alabama have become non-severe and are now moving through the eastern part of the state. We now just have rain and some gusty wind leftover, with heavy rain coming to and end from west to east across the area over the next few hours. A few areas of showers will develop as a cold front moves through later, with no severe weather expected.

These storms will move out ahead of a cold front that will bring another shot of cool and dry weather to the state. Some lingering showers are possible early Friday, but the end of the week will be cool, cloudy and breezy. Temperatures will only rise to the mid and upper 50s as the cold air slides in.

The weekend ahead looks nice, with warming temperatures. Saturday and Sunday morning lows will drop to the upper 30s and low 40s while afternoon highs rebound into the middle and upper 60s Saturday and upper 60s to low 70s Sunday. Early indications are another batch of strong storms is possible late Monday into Tuesday so stay tuned.
