Expect another warm day across Alabama with highs in the upper 80s. Scattered showers are likely this afternoon for folks who are West of I-65. It will be breezy most of the day too with a South wind sustained at 10 to 15 mph. Those showers should begin fizzling out later this evening and we’ll stay mostly dry overnight into Monday morning. Overnight lows in the upper 60s.
The rain should pick back up again in coverage tomorrow morning with scattered showers likely for most of the area Monday. I’m putting tomorrow’s rain chance at 40%. The rainfall should be light in intensity & scattered in coverage, moving out of the area by Monday evening. Highs tomorrow in the upper 80s.
We dry out and start turning the heat up for the remainder of the week. Tuesday will be partly cloudy, dry & hot with highs near 90°. Summer will basically kick into gear for the second half of this week…we’ll have consecutive of nothing but sunshine and hotter-than-normal temperatures for late-May, which means highs in the mid 90s. With the humidity factored in, the heat index may approach 100° each day Thursday through Saturday.
Precautionary measures to avoid heat stress this coming week are essential. Ensure that you are NOT spending too much time outside towards the end of the week. Ensure that you have a way to stay hydrated if you do need to be outside. Bring pets indoors into the shade to avoid overheating
