What a gorgeous day on tap for Central Alabama as we end the week! Temperatures will stay below mid-June averages as the mercury only climbs into the mid 80s. Expect lots of sunshine as well. Things change by Saturday as high pressure starts to move out and more humid air from the south rushes in. Temperatures will be closer to average in the afternoon (upper 80s) with more stickiness to the air as well. However, we stay dry to start the weekend.
That rain-free weekend is spoiled on Sunday as shower and thunderstorm chances return to the forecast. The rain chances will be driven by upper-level disturbances moving into the Deep South. These will tap into the deep-layer moisture over the region and chances for rain will show back up. Not everyone will see rain, but the spots that do can expect some heavy downpours.
This rainy stretch of weather continues for the start of the work week and even into the middle of the week. Severe weather isn’t expected with any of the storms we see develop during this time, but some of them could pack lightning and gusty winds, along with the heavy rain.
