It was windy with heavy rain earlier on Thursday, with wind gusts over 30 mph and some reports of trees down. Most areas got between 1/2 and 1 inch of rainfall, with BHM airport getting 0.55″ , but some locations over 1″. Concord in western Jefferson County had 1.15″.
We will see a few light showers as the front moves through this afternoon and evening, but the heavy rain is over. Once the front moves through, temperatures will really start to drop overnight, winding up in the upper 40s by tomorrow morning. Most of the day on Thursday will be dreary and cold with temperatures in the lower 50s and wind making it feel like the 40s at times. We may see a bit of sunshine Friday afternoon.
The weekend will be pleasant with partly cloudy skies and cool temperatures. Lows will be in the 40s and highs will be in the 60s. Our next big storm system comes through on Election Day next Tuesday. We will have to keep an eye on that one, as it could also present a threat for severe weather.
