Temperatures are warming up and clouds are building as we head into the afternoon. A cold front approaches the region which will focus showers and storms around Central Alabama later this afternoon and tomorrow. Widespread heavy rain is possible late tonight with some areas of flooding possible. Avoid these normally flooded areas if you can and never drive through a flooded road. Temperatures in most spots will be kept in check due to the clouds with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.
Rain chances Tuesday look to depend on how fast the cold front moves through. Most forecast models have the front passing through by the morning hours, with rain ending by the mid afternoon for most of us. No matter what, we’re going to start off Tuesday with showers and a few storms around before the sun comes up and into the morning commute.
However, once the front passes us by, drier air moves in and temperatures will sit well below our summer averages Wednesday. Look for lows in the low to mid 60s in the morning with highs in the mid 80s for the afternoon. Humidity will be much lower than usual as well, so you’ll be able to feel that difference. More of the same for Thursday and Friday, but temperatures will be just a little warmer in the afternoon.
