(WIAT) — It’s hard to believe the New Year is just a few days away.
If you’re like a lot of folks, you spent some of 2015 looking and laughing at the trending video of the day.
“There are so many videos out there that are great and that go viral every year, so basically we look at the views, but aside from the views we also look at how people engage with the videos,” said YouTube trends expert Nina Tyler. “We look at how much people are commenting on the video and sharing them on social media. So a lot more than views goes into making our top list of trending videos every year.”
Coming in at number five is the lip sync battle with Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart and Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show. The video features Drew Barrymore and has 54 million views and counting.
At number four is have the Ad Council’s Love Has No Labels campaign, featuring issues such as diversity and inclusion.
At number three is YouTube creator Roman Atwood’s crazy plastic ball prank, with more than 55 million views.
“He fills his home with tons of plastic, colorful balls, and has his wife open the door and they all fall out. It’s very funny. He’s one of our top YouTube pranksters,” said Tyler.
At number two is a video that many may remember from the Super Bowl, the Clash of the Clans Revenge commercial. It features actor Liam Neeson and has 83 million views and counting.
Taking the number one spot this year is 5-year-old Karen King dancing to the popular song “Watch Me.” This video went viral with 115 million views.
Tyler said there is no magic formula to making a video go viral, that most that do are either informative or entertaining, and definitely sharable.
