(WIAT) — Today marks one year since a Malaysian airliner was shot down, killing all 298 people on board.
The Ukrainian village where MH 17 fell will mark the day with a ceremony. It’s being organized by local leaders and the Russia-backed separatist rebels who control the area.
Ukrainian and western authorities said the plane was downed by a missile fired by rebels or Russian troops who may back them.
The rebels and Moscow said it was hit by a Ukrainian warplane or Ukrainian-fired missile.
Authorities said most victims have been traced back to their families, but two victims remain unaccounted for.
