JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has requested the public’s assistance locating a 20-year-old woman who has been missing since last week.

Marka “Willoe” Watkins was last seen Monday, June 17 in the Bessemer and McCalla area. She is 5 feet, 1 inches tall and weighs about 115 pounds.

Kathy Harrison is Watkins’ grandmother, and explains that they speak to each other almost every day, making Watkins’ disappearance especially concerning.

“We’re each others go-tos, rocks,” said Harrison. “And I don’t know what else I should say except that I want my granddaughter back home, please!”

Authorities have “serious concerns for her safety,” but could not elaborate on why they believe she could be in danger.

Harrison is praying that someone knows something about Watkins’ disappearance, and is pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

“Somebody’s gotta know something, somebody’s gotta have seen her,” said Harrison. “They need to come forward and help. Because she’s not like this. She doesn’t go off and do stuff like that. It’s not her.”

Anyone with information regarding Watkins’ whereabouts is urged to call 911 or the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450.
