Power out in Vestavia, other areas due to storms

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The storms passing through the area have caused power outages across the metro, according to Alabama Power.

According to Alabama Power’s outage map, over 2,500 customers are without power in the Birmingham area.

The outages appear to be centered around Vestavia Hills, which is seeing significant flooding on Highway 31.

UPDATE: Most customers’ power has been restored as of July 20.
