BIRMINGHAM, Ala (WIAT) — Democratic presidential candidate and California senator Kamala Harris made her first stop at UAB Hilton on Friday.
She plans to make her pitch to women voters in Birmingham — and to speak out against Alabama’s near-total abortion ban.
Harris says her plan is to require the Department of Justice to review any state law that limits access to a woman’s ability to have reproductive healthcare if it is coming from a state that has a history of limiting those rights. “There is a full attack against women and their access to reproductive healthcare, and we are going to fight it every day of the week,” says Harris.
The event was scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday and ended around 8:30 p.m.
Harris is expected to be in Montgomery Saturday at the Alabama Democratic Luncheon at 12:30 p.m.
