Hoover construction concerns in Bluff Park

Hoover, Ala., (WIAT) — Neighbors in Hoover are concerned over construction projects in Bluff Park. They’re worried the blasts may damage their home. The site has been zoned as a residential area and has been approved for a small subdivision development off Tyler Rd & Alford Ave.

Hoover Fire Marshal Duke Moore says the blasting should be done less than 30 days and that is how long the permit was issued for. They are blasting to create ditches to run sewer lines in and that the residents are in no way in harms way. Moore says the radius for the pre-blast survey was 500 feet from where they are actually blasting and that 37 structures including a cemetery was surveyed.

“We actually monitor the results everyday in this case. We’ll be measuring the readings every single day to make sure that they are in limits. We do require the blaster to maintain insurance then if there is any type of property damage to any adjacent property owner theres a way to be taken care of,” says Hoover City Administrator Allan Rice.

Rice says if residents have a concern, you can contact the fire marshal by calling 444-7655.
