BIRMINGHAM, Ala., (WIAT) -- City leaders want an NFL team to call Birmingham home, at least for a season.
Birmingham City Councilor William Parker wants the Oakland Raiders to play at Legion Field for the upcoming NFL season. He confirms the city is partnering up with Tucson, Arizona to present a joint offer at Legion Field.
Right now the team is without a home stadium because they're moving from Oakland to Las Vegas, but that stadium won't be ready until 2020.
"Sooner rather than later, we are aggressively pursuing all options. We're just happy that we're partnering with Tucson and we're ready for the Oakland raiders to come to Birmingham," says Parker. Parker plans on meeting with the Oakland Raiders officials to present the proposal to them soon.
