BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)– UAB head coach Bill Clark hosted the annual Birmingham Bowl Youth Football Clinic Friday. The clinic was open to the first 200 kids who checked in at UAB’s Legacy Pavilion.
Coach Clark and his coaching staff led the camp. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in agility drills, and offensive and defensive training. In addition, campers toured UAB football facilities and learned some valuable lessons from guest speaker coach Timothy Alexander.
Coach Clark not only emphasized the importance of learning the fundamentals and safety of the game, but he also wanted the kids to walk away with a message that football is fun and good character is most important.
“Anything that makes it [football] fun and creates the avenue of ‘we want you to play,’ and, ‘it’s good to play the game,’ well that’s a good thing for all of us,” said Coach Clark.
Campers who attended received a complimentary T-shirt, a boxed lunch and two tickets for the 13th annual Birmingham Bowl scheduled for Saturday, December 22.
