PHOENIX, Ariz. (WIAT) - Phil Savage is taking his talents to the new Alliance of American Football. He's been named general manager of the Phoenix Alliance, according to an announcement by the league. Savage will oversee operations, along with Phoenix head coach Rick Neuheisel.
Savage was previously the executive director of the Reese's Senior Bowl for 6 years. He stepped down from that post in May. He's also been the color analyst for Alabama football radio broadcasts since 2009.
"Phil's experience as an NFL coach, scout, player personnel executive and general manager is exactly what is needed to build a championship-caliber team from scratch," said J.K. McKay, head of the AAF's football operations. "Over the course of his career he has shown a knack for identifying top talent, and we look forward to him doing the same here in Phoenix for The Alliance."
Over the last two decades, Savage has also held front office positions with several NFL franchises, including the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles.
