Talladega, Ala. (WIAT) — Talladega Superspeedway has created countless legends of the sport in its 50 years. Names like Earnhardt, Allison, and Waltrip all have etched their names in the track’s lore.
The track was the brainchild of NASCAR founder Bill France, but the reason it was built in Alabama, was all thanks to a local insurance agent Bill Ward who dared to dream his home state could become a fixture in racing.
