HUEYTOWN, Ala. (WIAT)- As his “Dream Forever Week” comes to an end, former Hueytown star Jameis Winston is now looking toward the future.
Winston enters the final year of his rookie contract with a new staff, led by head coach Bruce Arians.
“Coach Arians is known in this Birmingham area,” said Winston. “He has great energy. We are going to feed off that, and we are going to win some football games.”
Through four seasons with the Buccaneers, Winston has a 21-33 record with 58 interceptions in 56 games. He is set to earn $20.922 million next season. As a result, expectations for him to preform are high.
“We’re ready to play,” said Winston. “I am not here to expect or predict anything. I know we have to go out, execute, and win some football games.”
Winston’s Birmingham tour began Monday at Dicks Sporting Goods in Hoover, where he surprised 10 local children with a $100 shopping spree.
On Wednesday, Winston presented the Bessemer Public Library with a $5,000 donation.
The week finished off with a high school football camp at Miles College on Thursday and a youth camp at Hueytown High School on Friday.
