BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Former Parker High School star and Milwaukee Bucks point guard Eric Bledsoe returned to his hometown of Birmingham for the 4th annual Celebrity weekend. It included a back-to-school backpack giveaway on Saturday morning and ends with a celebrity basketball game Sunday afternoon at Lawson State Community College.
Hundreds packed into Railroad Park in Downtown Birmingham Saturday morning to snag some swag and meet the NBA All-Star. “I wish I had a chance to experience something like this you know when I was growing up, and I just wanted to give back something I never had,” Bledsoe said.
Several current and former NBA players are expected at Sunday’s celebrity game, including: Eric Bledsoe (Milwaukee Bucks), Brandon Jennings (Milwaukee Bucks) KJ McDaniels (Grand Rapids Drive with the G League), Tyler Ulis (Phoenix Suns) Demarcus Cousins (Golden State Warriors), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (Los Angeles Lakers) and John Henson (Milwaukee Bucks).
