Flat Rock Park closed after man drowns, emergency crews searching for body

UPDATE 3:30 P.M. — Emergency crews have recovered a body in the lake at Flat Rock Park, according to the Randolph County Coroner. 

The Randolph County Rescue Squad used sonar to help search for the missing man. The sonar system picked up an image that officials believe could be the body of the man who drowned. They performed a drag in the lake and recovered the body around 2:30 p.m. 

Officials have not said if this is the body of the man who drowned.

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Flat Rock Park will be closed Sunday or until further notice, according to officials.

Emergency crews are in the area trying to recover the body of a 56-year-old man that drowned late Saturday evening around 5:15. In addition, the sheriff’s office is asking boats in the area of Flat Rock to slow to idle speed if you approach the area or see Emergency Personnel.
