BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) –This football season brings a new and exciting look for the Red Zone. CBS42 has partnered with local musician Casey Thrasher, a finalist on Season 13 of American Idol, for a theme song to the 2016 Red Zone season.

The song is called “Throwdown” and has never been released to the public.

“It felt perfect for this opportunity,” Thrasher said. “It ties right into football, and being from Tuscaloosa the rivalry between Alabama and Auburn is like none other.”

The song will serve as the open of each Red Zone show on Fridays and Saturdays with updated highlights as the season goes along.

The video was shot at West Blocton High School, where Thrasher has many friends and family in the area.

“That area was a perfect location for the video,” Thrasher said. “It has a country vibe that we were going for and the high school football field tied into it. It felt like the perfect community.”

The Red Zone open is not the only partnership CBS42 has made with Thrasher. A full music video will be released in the following weeks, with a grand reveal live in Oxford, Miss. For the Alabama Ole Miss game in week three.

Stay tuned to wiat.com for more details on the reveal.
