BAY AREA, Ca. (WIAT) — As the Alabama Crimson Tide gear up to take on the Clemson Tigers, the fans are soaking up the experience and the events leading up to the game.
The NCAA 2019 National Championship game is set for Monday at 7 p.m. at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Fans from both teams — and interested locals — enjoyed media day with the players on Saturday.
As soon as the Alabama fight song began, much of the crowd was on their feet.
“From the bottom of my heart, this is the most amazing thing we do,” Debbie Wood, an Alabama fan, said. “We make this part of our vacation every year.”
Clemson fans were also excited to observe media day, like Tom Tonman and his grandson, Kale.
“We watch a lot of football together, especially in the state of Florida,” Tonman said.
Kids from the Make-A-Wish Foundation were also at the event to see their favorite team.
“It means a lot to me — more than anyone will ever know,” Anthony Durr, an Alabama native and a cancer survivor, said.
