BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The Habitat for Humanity Organization is making a big difference through there Women Build Movement.
The Women Build Movement is one of its programs for women who want to learn construction skills to build homes and communities. It also provides affordable new homes and repairs to homes for women in need.
Saturday, a group women volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s to make repairs to homes in the East Lake community.
CBS 42 spoke with Gloria Matthews who received repairs to her deck, and had the side of her painted. She says the kindness from the women and Habitat is one of the biggest blessings she’s received.
Habitat for Humanity also required the 19 acres of land in East Lake that used to be the former site of Cascade Plunge which was around in the 90s. They will build new affordable housing on that 19 acres.
