CENTER POINT, Ala. (WIAT) — A woman was shot Thursday night in Center Point in the 100 block of Haversham Drive.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene to investigate reported shots fired in the area. When they arrived, they found a 31-year-old woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, lying in a parking lot of an apartment complex. According to Randy Christian with the Sheriff’s Office, she was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Christian says the suspect left the scene before the deputies arrived.

Friday, Christian said the woman is still in the hospital and expected to survive. Christian says there are no witnesses to the shooting, and they don’t expect any new information until they are able to interview the victim.

The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office will provide more details as they come available. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s office at 324-1450 or Crime Stoppers at 254-7777.
