Wing Zone restaurants around America holding fundraiser for Ben Abercrombie

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — The Hoover community is coming together to support the recovery of a former Buccaneers football star who suffered a spinal cord injury.

Wing Zone is holding a fundraiser for Ben Abercrombie to help with his mounting medical bills.

Ben Abercrombie suffered a neck injury about three months ago, and now he’s at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

His father, Marty, owns the Wing Zone in Hoover, and the company’s general manager wants to help.

So every location around the country is raising money through a special promotion this Wednesday to donate funds to the Abercrombie family.

“It’s just wonderful that Wing Zone’s supporting us, supporting Ben in this way,” Marty Abercrombie said. “It’s again, just another amazing thing that’s being done for Ben and our family, so we do appreciate the Wing Zone family stepping up and helping us.”

Wing Zone will give away five free boneless wings of its new Korean Q flavor. For every five wings it gives away, they will donate $1 to the Ben Abercrombie fund.
