(WIAT) — UPDATE (2/7/19): Wells Fargo released an update Thursday afternoon about service restored to customers after a nationwide outage. There have been reports, however, that service is still down for some customers.
The following was released by Wells Fargo:
Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) is reporting the following updates on its progress in restoring services for customers following today’s system issue:
- Wells Fargo ATM services have been restored and are available for customer use.
- Mobile and Online Banking systems are operational, with the exception of some features, such as consumer credit card and mortgage balances, that we are in the process of restoring.
- Customers can use Wells Fargo credit and debit cards for purchases.
- Wells Fargo bank branches are operational.
- Our contact center systems are restored, but customers may experience longer than usual delays contacting Wells Fargo’s Phone Bank.
We continue to work on restoring all our services as soon as possible, and encourage customers to contact us if they have questions or concerns. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by these system issues, and we want our customers to know that any Wells Fargo fees incurred as a result of these issues will be reversed.
We will provide updates as we complete the restoration of all services for customers.
UPDATE: Wells Fargo released the apparent cause of the outage:
We’re experiencing system issues due to a power shutdown at one of our facilities, initiated after smoke was detected following routine maintenance. We’re working to restore services as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
On Twitter and Facebook, Wells Fargo released a series of posts apologizing for an outage that is reportedly affecting credit cards, debit cards and preventing access to bank accounts. Customers took to social media claiming the inability of accessing their account in the mobile banking app and at ATMs.
As of right now, the home page for Wells Fargo is down with a message stating:
We’re experiencing some technical difficulties
We’re experiencing a system issue that is causing intermittent outages, and we’re working to restore services as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Wells Fargo stated on their Facebook that,
We’re experiencing a systems issue that is causing intermittent outages, and we’re working to restore services as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
On twitter, Wells Fargo stated,
We apologize to our customers who may be experiencing an issue with our online banking and mobile app. Thanks for your patience while we research this issue. If you are impacted, please check back here for updates.
