Wednesday storms bring significant damage to Alabama towns

Heavy storms brought damage to towns like Hueytown and Jacksonville on Wednesday night, according to reports from eyewitnesses and emergency services.

Straight line winds took down several trees and powerlines in the area of Hueytown Road and Walker Avenue in Hueytown, and officials reported that Alabama Power was on the scene this morning around 10 a.m.

As of 6 p.m. an update stated that Hueytown Road would be open around 7, but that the road would be closed again on Friday morning as utilities workers began work on restoring services to the area.

In Jacksonville, many trees were felled around Mountain Street, near the Jacksonville State University campus.

CBS 42 will keep you updated as the situation develops.
