Wattsville volunteer firefighter admits to starting fire in Pell City, Fire Marshal says

PELL CITY, Ala. (WIAT) — A volunteer firefighter with the Wattsville Fire Department has been arrested after admitting to investigators he had started a fire in Pell City, according to the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office.

Steven Rocha, 19, has been charged with second-degree arson in connection to a “suspicious” house fire, according to a Facebook post.

The incident occurred Sept. 3 at a home on Highway 174.

Rocha was placed in the St. Clair County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
