Santa, Clara, Calif. (WIAT) – Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers are once again National Champions after beating (1) Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game Monday night, 44-16.
The Tigers scored 30 unanswered points after trailing 16-14 early in the 2nd quarter vs. the Crimson Tide. Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence was 20 for 32 passing for 347 yards and three passing touchdowns. Clemson wide receiver and Phenix City, AL native Justyn Ross has a big day too, hauling in 6 catches for 153 yards and one touchdown.
Sophomore safety Nolan Turner, from Vestavia Hills High School, played a roll in the secondary, seeing multiple snaps. Turner is the son of the late Kevin Turner, the former Alabama player who died of ALS a few years ago.
