Warehouse owned by Facebook evacuated after employees exposed to a deadly chemical

MENLO PARK, CA – (CBS ) – We are following breaking news of a mailing facility owned by Facebook, being evacuated due to employees possibly being exposed to a deadly chemical.

Authorities say they were alerted to two employees possibly being exposed to the sarin chemical while testing a package for hazardous chemicals.

Authorities say a secondary open-air test came back negative. Hazmat crews are currently being sent in to do another test.

Sarin is a clear, colorless liquid that is classified as a nerve agent. Exposure can lead to convulsions, paralysis and sometimes death.

According to officials, it happened in Menlo Park on Hamilton Court near Bayfront Expressway. The San Mateo County Fire Battalion Chief says everyone is safe and the two people are currently being checked out.

Authorities say the FBI will also be apart of this investigation.
