BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Starting this week, a popular restaurant delivery service will be serving two communities in the greater Birmingham area.
Starting Wedenday, Waitr will expand into Center Point and Trussville. In a press release sent out by the company, enthusiasm for the on-demand restaurant delivery service in Birmingham prompted the decision to expand into the two cities.
To date, the Louisiana-based company currently has more than 180 restaurant partners in the Birmingham area, up from 25 when it first debuted in 2017.
Waitr expects that the expansion will bring 100 new jobs to Center Point and Trussville, including a locally based managerial staff. With the launch in Center Point and Trussville, Waitr now services much of the Birmingham area including Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Hoover, Irondale, Alabaster, Pelham and Helena.
Waitr is offering delivery from a variety of Center Point and Trussville-area restaurants, including Wing It, El Taquero, Kemp’s Kitchen, Cold Stone Creamery, Gyro’s Café, Mango Tango Smoothies & Grill, Planet Nutrition, Little Caesars, Da Sandwich Shop, East Buffet, Cajun Bistro, Thai Basil & Sushi, Wing A Fish, Hot Spot and Rock-N-Roll Sushi.
“We’re very proud to be a part of this community and thrilled that Waitr has become a fixture in so much of the Birmingham area,” said Whitney Savoie, market development director for Waitr. “From our initial launch in 2017 in the area to this week in Center Point and Trussville, customers and businesses alike see Waitr as their choice for on-demand food ordering and delivery.”
