Police searching for owners of more than 100 stolen artifacts and paintings

LOS ANGELES, CA (CBS & WIAT) – Police in Los Angeles are searching for people who had valuable art stolen from them.

Wednesday during a press conference, investigators say they want to give back more than 100 pieces of art to their rightful owners.

Authorities say back in the 1990s, the pieces were taken in a series of burglaries. The items were stolen while the owners were not at their homes or businesses.

According to Officials thieves made off with numerous paintings and artifacts.

In June of this year, detectives were notified about stolen artwork depicted on the Los Angeles Police Department Art Theft website.

The case led to the recovery of the over works of art and artifacts pending investigation.

Detectives are working diligently to locate victims and seeking the public’s assistance in returning the recovered art and artifacts to its rightful owner(s). 

The investigation is ongoing.
