University of Alabama announces $600 million ‘Crimson Standard’ plan

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) —  The University of Alabama Athletics Department Thursday announced “The Crimson Standard,” a vision for the future that enhances Alabama athletics and the fan experience.

The core values begin with a commitment to the educational and athletic development to student athletes, athletic director Greg Byrne said.

Byrne announced the Crimson Standard is a $600 million plan over 10-years that is a comprehensive initiative that will impact all teams and venues, including renovations to Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Coleman Coliseum and Mal Moore complex.

“These improvements will continue to provide Alabama to have a standard that’s number one all across the country,” Nick Saban said.

Saban was joined by his wife Terry, and announced they will contribute $1 million to the Crimson Standard initiative.

“This plan is all Alabama,” UA president Dr. Stuart Bell said. “It is second to none.”
