TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — The University of Alabama School of Law announced today a $26.5 million donation from business executive and attorney Hugh F. Culverhouse Jr.
In honor of Culverhouse’s donation, the UA School of Law will now bear his name, becoming the Hugh F. Culverhouse Jr. School of law at the campus. The commitment includes a $25 million gift, the largest in the University’s 187-year history. UA reports, the gift will be funded over four years; more than $11.5 million of the total donation has already been received.
The donation was announced today in a campus ceremony and includes a $1.5 million gift Culverhouse made in 2017 to establish the Endowed Chair in Constitutional Law, which serves as a foundation for a program in constitutional studies.
