Two men have been taken into custody on sexual assault charges after an investigation, according to a release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators with the sheriff’s office started looking into a sexual assault case involving children under the age of 12 on May 7, according to the release. James Michael Perego was arrested at his residence on County Road 723 in Henagar on May 11 during the course of the investigation, according to the release.
Perego was charged with four counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12 and sodomy 2nd. He’s currently being held in the DeKalb County Jail awaiting bond, according to the release.
As the investigation continued, James Britton Jr. was located and arrested at his residence at Mississippi Street in Henagar, according to the release. Authorities charged Britton with three counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12 and resisting arrest.
Britton is also awaiting bond at the DeKalb County Jail.
