Tuscaloosa animal shelter gets mobile adoption truck

News

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — This Tuscaloosa animal shelter found an easier way to get animals out into the community… on wheels.

The Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter Mobile Adoption Unit truck is the newest addition tot he animal shelter. The shelter will use the truck for adoption events around Tuscaloosa County and will use the vehicle to bring the animals to the community for adoption.

The truck can hold 33 animals. It will also be used to transport cats and dogs to rescue organizations. Officials tell us having this new mobile truck is going to make adopting pets into good homes much easier.

“So many people are afraid to come to the shelter,” Jennifer Earp said. “Its overwhelming for them and can be really  stressful because they see so many. This allows us to bring the animals to the community
fewer animals at a time but they are riding comfortably.”

The animal shelter will begin using the new vehicle in two weeks. It costs $224,000.
