BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Pepper Place is choosing National Margarita Day to celebrate its entertainment district designation. The designation allows open containers of alcohol to be carried outside of restaurants, creating more foot traffic and entertainment opportunities in a specific area.
With the new designation, you will be able to go from grabbing a drink at a restaurant to getting your hair done and doing a little shopping, all within one area. The designation is the second of its kind in Birmingham after Uptown was approved as an entertainment district in 2015.
Pepper Place is 330,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space. The downtown dining and shopping area will transform into a block party of sorts later today.
The owner of ¡Cantina! Restaurant tells CBS 42 the designation will dramatically improve the experience for customers.
Jorge Castro, owner of Cantina said, “You can walk to one area to another area with your drink in your hand with your friends, it makes a lot of difference.”
Cantina, along with other restaurants within the district, are offering margarita specials to celebrate National Margarita Day. Don’t worry about the rain! There will be tents and plenty of indoor space.
