Sylacauga man charged with capital murder in death of infant daughter

SYLACAUGA, Ala. (WIAT) — Police say 29-year-old Andrew Lashown Stone has been charged with capital murder in the death of his 4-month-old daughter. Police say the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Stone was already in the Talladega County Jail on unrelated charges when a grand jury issued the capital murder indictment.

The indictment comes after police responded to a call in February of 2015 where an infant was transported for treatment of injuries and later passed away at Children’s Hospital. After the initial call, investigators with the Sylacauga PD worked to get the suspect indicted.

Because the victim is under the age of 14, the charge is capital murder. If convicted, Stone could face life in prison without parole or the death sentence. He’s being held on no bond.
