Suspect charged with Wells Fargo robbery in Homewood

The suspect in the Wells Fargo Bank robbery that occurred Aug. 3 at the West Valley Avenue branch has been formally charged by the Homewood Police Department. 

On Thursday, detectives obtained a warrant for first-degree robbery on Monte Clayton Lynch, 49, of Missouri.  According to a press release sent by the HPD, Lynch has a criminal history of robbery and is suspected in numerous bank robberies in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee that have occurred over the past several months. 

The FBI, along with multiple agencies, were involved in identifying Lynch.  A tip on Lynch’s whereabouts led police to Montgomery and he was taken into custody on Aug. 16.

Lynch is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail and is facing additional federal charges.
