SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Captain Clay Hammac with the Drug Task Force is one of the ’40 under 40′ award recipients in Orlando last week.
32,000 law enforcement officers were nominated from more than 150 counties and Hammac was a finalist. President Trump was at the award ceremony.
Hammac is the first from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to get this award. He says he knows so many others that are deserving of this too, and would not be where is without them.
“It really left me speechless and I was just incredibly grateful to my agency, to my colleagues, and to the law enforcement community for supporting this nomination effort,” Hammac said.
Hammac says his biggest heroes goes to his wife and children who are very understanding of his job. Hammac has been with the sheriff’s office since 2004.
