SAN DIEGO, CA – (CBS & WIAT) – RideShare Drivers United in Southern California and Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez held a press conference to encourage legislators to pass Bill AB5.

Over 5500 members in Southern California alone, Rideshare Drivers United members are proponents for AB5, which will ensure the rideshare industry finally offers fair, dignified, and sustainable conditions for their drivers.

The AB5 Bill, which passed the California Assembly and is being considered in the Senate, codifies a landmark state Supreme Court decision that established firmer rules for how companies can classify contractors.

It also could completely change the business model of app-based companies like Lyft and Uber.
