Police searching for person of interest in Irondale mother’s murder


IRONDALE, Ala. (WIAT) — Irondale police are searching for a person of interest in connection with the murder of Melinda Searight.

According to Det. Mangina, the person of interest picked up murder suspect Anthony Kelly after Searight was shot in the head and killed in her home on April 22. Police and family initially believed she was beaten to death, but later determined she was fatally shot.

The car the person of interest was driving is a black Nissan 350z, 2002-2009. They believe the subject may live in the Edwards Lake Road area. Investigators want to talk to this person.
