Orlando airport using facial recognition scans at security check-in

(WIAT) — New technology is being tested that could improve security and speed up boarding at airports.

Orlando International Airport is expanding a program that uses biometric facial scans to verify a traveler’s identity.

Images are captured at the gate and once passengers go through security in just seconds. The photos are compared to a passenger’s passport photo stored in a government database.

Similar technology is already in place at several airports but only for some departing international flights.
