One Class at a Time: Vincent Middle High School

VINCENT, Ala. (WIAT) — One central Alabama teacher is making plans on how to spend $1,000 with the influence from her students.

This teacher and her class are helping younger students build confidence.  The students at Vincent Middle High School serve as mentors within their school and Vincent Elementary.

“We travel to the elementary school and we talk about your basics like grades, how they set the foundation of your future,” Student, Chris Hardie, said. “Choices, because choices do affect your future.”

Their teacher, Amy Martin, sees these students as leaders and respected in the community so she wants to buy dress shirts for the group.

“I want them to look the part. I want them to be able to walk in confidence and look the very best,” Martin said.

With the CBS 42 One Class at a Time grant  of $1,000, she will be able to make that purchase for her class.

“I can’t wait to take these guys shopping,” Martin said. “Thank you so much CBS 42 and eCO Credit Union because I couldn’t do this without you guys.”
