One Class at a time: Sumiton Christian Elementary

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A Walker County teacher has an extra $1000 to spend on her class thanks to the CBS 42 One Class at a Time grant.

Fifth grade teacher Britney Cronin is a teacher at Sumiton Christian Elementary School. Her students, like many their age, are curious about the world around them.

“The kids are so inquisitive. They have so many questions. I take lots of notes on sticky notes trying to look it up on the computer myself, but it would be wonderful for them to be able to have that technology at hand,” Cronin said.

That is why CBS 42 Meteorologist Nate Harrington surprised Ms. Cronin and her class with the One Class at a Time Grant.

“We need classroom tablets,” She said. “I think that is one big thing that we’re missing in our room.”

She says that tablets would help her students find their own answers to questions.

“They can research on their own and they can be just independent and grow as learners,” Cronin said.
