One Class at a Time: Minor Middle School

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A Minor Middle School P.E. teacher is making plans to spend her $1,000 One Class at a Time Grant from CBS 42.

Alesia Sharpe tells CBS 42 she cares deeply about the future of her students.

“I want to promote lifelong fitness,” Sharpe said. “Not just physical fitness, but in health and nutrition. That’s important.”

To help Sharpe purchase the additional teaching supplies she needs, CBS 42 surprised her with a $1,000 grant. She plans on spending the money on health-related instruments to help her students learn.

“We’re going to purchase 3D models of the heart, the lungs, the teeth because personal hygiene is also very important,” Sharpe said. “And we’re also going to purchase some models and videos on drugs and alcohol abuse so we can teach our children the effects and the harms that alcohol and drugs have on the body.”

The One Class at a Time grant is provided by eCo Credit Union. If you or a teacher you know would like to sign up to enter to win a $1,000 grant, click here.
