BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Grantswood Community School teacher has an extra $1,000 to spend on her class.
When it gets close to the holidays, there’s an easy way to keep the attention of small kids.
But this gift was not for the kids — it was for Ms. Margaret Frasier. Frasier is a special education teacher for kindergarten and first grade students.
Frasier will use the money to buy Chromebooks that will help with reading programs.
Frasier explained, “The [students] are working with Lexia which is a reading program that tracks. They assess and it sees where their current reading level is and then goes through different lessons to track their reading progress.”
The program means each student has a personalized program for reading improvement.
Frasier said, “It helps me because the program provides lessons so I know what to teach the students directly.”
