Oak Grove High School teen identified as victim killed in hunting accident


ADGER, ALA. 15-year-old Alyssa Scott was identified Tuesday morning by the county coroner as the victim killed in a hunting accident Monday evening.

Tuesday at Oak Grove High School where Scott attended. Scott played the xylophone in her school’s marching band. Band member wade Chapman has fond memories of her.

“Alyssa stood out, very outgoing and her laugh was contagious and overall sweet person,” said Chapman.

Band member Stone Martin also remembers Scott well.

“She always had a positive attitude in the band and she always knew how to make me smile,” said Martin.

According to investigators, Scott and an adult family friend were on a youth hunt in Adger Monday night. As they were getting ready to leave, Scott climbed down out of a tree stand. And, as a friend passed down her rifle, it discharged, hitting Scott. She died at the hospital.

Tuesday, students at Oak Grove High School signed a large poster they will give to alyssa’s family. They also met with faculty to come to grips with this sudden loss.
