BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Several new stores are coming to The Summit, while a couple are relocating within the shopping center.
Ulta is expected to open in May as well as men’s clothing store Mobley and Sons. Tempur-Pedic, Woodhouse Spa and Molly Green are expected to open during the Spring. The popular outdoor store, REI, is scheduled for an October opening.
“It’s very exciting for us because, you know, there is that stigma on shopping centers with online shopping but we have not seen that effect on The Summit,” said Natalie Gravois with Bayer Properties. “We have seen a lot of growth — a lot of brick and mortar coming back to The Summit.”
Work is currently underway at both Bath and Body Works and Sephora to re-locate the businesses within the shopping center with Spring deadlines. The new Bath and Body Works store will include the company’s popular White Barn candle store.
Anthony Vince Nail Spa – or Venetian Nail Spa – opened its newly re-modeled and re-located shop last year with great success.
“They have recently re-branded down into Saks Plaza and they have opened up a way bigger space where you are able to bring more bachelorette parties and birthday parties and they have a bar and you’re even able to go outside and get your manicures and pedicures on the patio,” Gravois said.
Gravois said she thinks the location of The Summit is part of the reason it is growing rather than stalling or shuttering amid the popularity of online shopping.
“I think we have a great, loyal customer base and I think we’ve been working toward making The Summit relevant to millennials and to people who shop this area and I think that’s helped tremendously,” Gravois said.
